One word you are never going to hear anyone in the Trump administration utter is “Lid”. Do you remember during President Biden’s term, quite often someone would say, ‘The President has put a lid on the day.’ They would let us know President Biden’s status by saying they’d called “a lid”. Someone with all of the White House records could give us an official count but it felt like hundreds were called. It doesn’t matter. Biden had a lot of very “short days” serving as President. Lids were a plenty. As Americans we became used to long stretches and chunks of time where you would would never see or hear from President Biden. They said he was in the White House working. They’d tell us he just finished up an extremely productive phone call with <insert leader’s name and country>. The more we didn’t see Biden the odder many felt. People wondered about Biden’s ability to run. Did he still have what it takes? Clearly, no. He did not. But what did we expect from a guy who ran almost his entire election campaign from his basement? However, this highly elevated level of seclusion was very fishy right out the gate. It was not normal. They were hiding him. They were hoping the American people wouldn’t notice. Unfortunately, for them a lot of people noticed. It was an election year for heave sakes. So many people were absolutely shocked by what was unfolding right before our eyes.
Contrast that very slow and sleepy time with the fast paced Presidency of President Trump. The comparison was and still is quite shocking. Love him or hate him Trump has almost unbridled energy. He allegedly requires very little sleep. Even typing that felt crazy because I’m tired right now. I should have been in bed two hours ago. After multiple days on the road Trump only occasionally looks exhausted.
When Marine One touched down Tuesday at the White House Trump had been on the move and involved in high stakes action for nearly 40 hours. He did not look bedraggled at all. He looked fresh, energetic and ready for more. Sure you can argue maybe he slept a little on Air Force One. However, with a road trip this exciting, I seriously doubt Trump napped. He flew that Peace High all the way back stateside. Trump looked exuberant strolling across the South Lawn. If this is what Trump looks and acts like when he’s really winning big then I say let’s help him keep winning. We’re ok with a chiller version of cool Trump. Can’t everyone celebrate when twenty Israeli hostages are finally released? Sadly, no. There are people out there who truly do not care these former captives have finally been freed. Just a quick glance at social media will provide you with more hatred than you ever could believe existed.
Trump’s ability to function on almost no sleep is legendary. It’s kind of his superpower. Others rest. He’s up and at ‘em. CNN’s Caitlyn <.double check spelling of her name and network affiliation> commented that no one enjoys tagging along on a Air Force One anymore specifically because Trump never sleeps. When I heard her say that during an interview I just started laughing. It’s hilarious. No more sleeping for reporters on Air Force One Runs anymore kids. The President is legendary for constantly chatting with the reporters in the press pool he allows to travel with him. Sadly, (Ms. blank’s) comments made it sound like she would rather nap. Crazy, right? If your job is to cover the president then perhaps you need to consider it a pr privilege and not an inconvenience. Hilarious to me because she’s basically admitting she cannot keep up with a 78 year old. How can you not laugh?
